Victorian Luncheon

A huge thank you to the lovely ladies who attended our Victorian Luncheon this Saturday!

The ladies first had tea from Sage Hollow and lunch catered by Bouche of De Pere. They went on to create beautiful Tussie Mussie nosegays in honor of Valentine's day.

Fall Fest Success!

Fall Fest on October 3rd & 4th!

Fall moved in quickly this year and we're ready to celebrate its arrival! Come join us on Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00-5:00 and Sunday, October 4th from 10:00-5:00 for family games & activities, food, vendors & more!

Family activities will include a Create-a-Scarecrow Contest, Leaf Identification, a Fall Scavenger Hunt, and face painting.

Vendors will include Cafe 658 of Denmark, The Rural Squirrel (Gourmet Popcorn) of Green Bay, Blossom's and Steve's Cheese (of Denmark), Sage Hollow (Tea, Herbs & Spices) of Reedsville, and Hillside Apples (of Casco).

A seminar on Preserving the Harvest will take place at 12:00pm on Saturday by Judy Knutson from the Extension office and Cindy Mineau from Ivy Trails will host two Yard Art demonstrations on Saturday at 10:00am and 2:00pm.

There will be plenty of activities to keep everyone busy as well as great fall merchandise to browse through! We hope to see you there!

Herbal Liqueur Class

Our first make and take class, Herbal Liqueurs, will take place on Monday, October 19th from 4:00-5:30 pm. During this class you will sample many different herbal liqueurs and take home three of your own.

The herbal liqueurs will make great Christmas presents or a delicious addition to your kitchen cabinet!

The class fee is $10 which includes all supplies. Due to limited class size, payment is required to register and hold your spot. Cash or check only, please.

One of our goals for 2009 was to offer more classes for our customers and provide information on making the most of the perennials, herbs, shrubs & trees in your yard. Our first two classes, "Planning your Herb Garden" followed by "Harvesting Herbs" were well received; the Green Bay Press Gazette even came out to feature us!

We are now excited to offer a "Fall Bulb Planting" class on September 21st from 4:00-5:00pm including tools, tips & techniques on what bulbs to plant for our area. You will learn about combinations, naturalizing, bloom times, and what to do after flowers fade, making it easy to design your own spring-blooming flower bed. The class fee is $5, which will be applied to any purchase. Please call Debi at (920) 465-8512 to register.

Upcoming classes will include:

"Herbal Liqueurs"--Learn how to brew your own herbal concoctions using herbs from your yard. October 19th.

"Christmas Potpourri"--Get your home ready for the holidays by creating your own signature scent. November 9th.

"Evergreen Centerpieces"--Make your table the talk of the night with a handmade centerpiece. November 30th.

"Kissing Balls"--Partake in a popular Victorian Christmas custom by creating a one-of-a-kind kissing ball, which is said to bring lasting friendship, romance, and goodwill. December 7th.

"Valentine Tussie Mussies"--Learn to speak in the language of flowers! Find out the meanings of herbs & flowers to create your own message in a beautiful nosegay. February.

Our annual Sidewalk Sale starts this Friday, July 31st and will last until Sunday, August 9th. Save 25-75% on select gift & garden items, statuary, perennials, shrubs, & trees. Remember to shop early for your best selection.

Gift items this year will range from Celestial to Asian garden art, stakes, chimes, picture frames, planters & more.

Many plants will be marked down to $2, $5, and $10 and many trees marked down 25% or more. We are also getting a special shipment of gallon shrubs!

10th Anniversary Bash

Herb Class in the Green Bay Press Gazette

Last week, Ivy Trails employee Cindy Mineau taught two classes on drying, cooking & crafting with herbs. We also had the honor of seeing her picture and an article including Ivy Trails in the Press Gazette yesterday! Here's an excerpt of the article:

Local garden centers are seeing an uptick in business from people new to gardening this year.

"I don't want to say dramatically, but we've definitely noticed an increased trend," said Tony Baus of Ivy Trails Garden Center, 3200 Main St., Bellevue. Baus said both vegetable and herb plants are selling well.

10 Years and Going Strong

On July 4th, 1999, Ivy Trails opened its doors. 10 years later, we have expanded to contain hundreds of healthy trees, shrubs & perennials, as well as fabulous gift items, statuary, fountains, heartfelt memorial items, and much more.

Our main goal at Ivy Trails hasn't changed since we opened--to provide great customer service to great customers. To do this, we offer a 2 year guarantee on plants Zone 4 & below, mulch, stone, sand & topsoil delivery, funeral delivery, and free gift wrapping both in-store and for memorial items.

This year, we are trying to become a more hands-on gift & garden center by offering classes and hosting events. We have started this blog as a way to inform you of upcoming events at our store (in addition to the general store information you can find on our website www.ivytrailsgarden.com).
